The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Office of Ambon Municipality
organized a Sectoral Statistics Coaching session on Monday, December 23,
2024. Held at the BPS office hall, the event aimed to strengthen inter-agency
collaboration and enhance the quality of sectoral statistics implementation
within the Ambon City Government.
During the session, BPS emphasized the crucial role of
Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) as data producers. Angelia A. Saiya,
S.S.T., M.T., highlighted that sectoral statistics are not solely produced by
BPS but also by various government agencies under the regional administration.
With Ambon City's Statistics Development Index (IPS) consistently rated as
"Good" (2.73) over the past two years, the 2025 target is to achieve
the "Very Good" category with a minimum score of 3.50.
Barbalina W.C. Masela, S.E., further stressed that achieving
this target requires the commitment of all stakeholders, including OPD leaders.
"Statistics must be an integral part of governance, not just an
administrative obligation," she emphasized.
Discussions during the coaching session also highlighted
challenges and strategies for strengthening sectoral statistics. The Department
of Communication, Informatics, and Encryption (Diskominfo) of Ambon City
proposed the need for more intensive coaching, particularly in metadata
preparation and improved documentation. As a concrete step, BPS Kota Ambon will
conduct workshops for OPDs focusing on the five key domains of statistical
evaluation: Indonesia One Data Principles, Data Quality, Statistical Business
Processes, Institutional Arrangements, and National Statistics.
Moreover, BPS Kota Ambon is committed to providing training
and mentoring to OPDs to enhance their data analysis capabilities. This effort
aims to strengthen OPDs' ability to interpret and utilize data effectively for
planning and evaluating government programs.
Through these initiatives, BPS Kota Ambon is optimistic
about fostering stronger cross-sectoral collaboration and realizing reliable,
credible, and beneficial statistical governance for Ambon's development.
