Ambon, November 25, 2024 – The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Office of Ambon City held a Review of evaluation of sectoral statistical organization (EPSS) as part of efforts to improve the quality of statistics and data management in Ambon City. The event was held at the Ambon City Hall Meeting Room and was attended by various stakeholders, including BPS Ambon as the data supervisor, Bappeda Litbang as the Secretariat of the Satu Data Indonesia (SDI) initiative in Ambon City, the Department of Communication, Informatics, and Encryption as the walidata, as well as the Department of Agriculture and Food Security and the Department of Manpower as data producers.
During the presentation, the BPS Ambon team explained that this review aimed to assess the maturity levels of various statistical aspects based on national standards. Several indicators achieved a satisfactory level of maturity, such as the Implementation of Data Standards, which reached Level 3. However, some other indicators required more attention, including the Implementation of Statistical Metadata and Data Interoperability, which were both rated at Level 3 due to incomplete supporting evidence.
"This activity is a critical step in ensuring that data management in Ambon City can support quality, data-driven policymaking. We recognize some gaps, such as incomplete documentation of supporting evidence for certain indicators, but this will be our priority moving forward," said a representative from BPS Ambon during the event.
Recommendations provided by BPS Ambon included:
The review also noted that some indicators in the Data Quality domain, such as Data Accuracy and Timeliness of Dissemination, were still at Level 2. This highlights the need for all stakeholders to strive for higher maturity levels to create relevant, accurate, and reliable statistics.
Through this activity, BPS Ambon hopes to encourage local governments and related institutions to strengthen their commitment to implementing the principles of Satu Data Indonesia (SDI). “We are optimistic that with solid collaboration, Ambon City can achieve better-integrated and higher-quality data management,” concluded the presenter.
This event is part of BPS Ambon City’s strategic efforts to realize excellent statistical governance as a foundation for policymaking in the region.
