Ambon Government & BPS Collaborate to Enhance Statistical Quality for Data-Driven Policy Making

March 20, 2025 | Other Activities

Ambon, March 20 – BPS-Statistics of Ambon Municipality held a preparatory meeting for the Sectoral Statistics Development (PSS) 2025 at the BPS-Statistics of Ambon Municipality Meeting Room. The event was attended by representatives from the Regional Development Planning and Research Agency (Bappedalitbang) of Ambon Municipality as the Secretariat of One Data Ambon Municipality, the Communication, Informatics, and Encryption Office (Diskominfo) of Ambon Municipality as the Walidata, and BPS-Statistics of Ambon Municipality as the Sectoral Statistics Supervisor.

The meeting was opened by the Head of BPS-Statistics of Ambon Municipality, Ir. Chaterina H. Persulessy, and led by Senior Statistician, Barbalina W. Ch. Masela. Over the course of three hours, participants discussed several key strategic agendas, including:

  1. Sectoral Statistics Development Materials presented by BPS-Statistics of Ambon Municipality, emphasizing the importance of synergy in implementing One Data Indonesia and collaboration in data collection and utilization.
  2. Presentation of the Priority Data List by the One Data Indonesia (SDI) Secretariat of Ambon Municipality, aligned with the 17 priority programs of the city government and regional development planning needs.
  3. Determination of Sample Agencies for the Sectoral Statistics Implementation Evaluation (EPSS) by Walidata of Ambon Municipality, focusing on agencies that already have metadata, such as the Public Housing and Settlement Service, Health Service, Regional Tax and Retribution Management Agency, and Public Works and Spatial Planning Service.

During the discussion, several important issues were raised, including the need to evaluate the Statistical Development Index (IPS) score improvement in Ambon Municipality, which remains minimal, the integration of data into a more effective system, and the scheduling of sectoral data collection to ensure completeness and validity. Additionally, the One Data Indonesia portal is still facing technical issues due to disruptions in the National Data Center, affecting access and data management efficiency.

As a follow-up, the proposed sample agencies for EPSS are requested to prepare their data. Walidata will further refine the metadata from the agencies proposed as EPSS 2025 samples. A follow-up meeting involving the candidate sample agencies is scheduled for April 11, 2025. Additionally, BPS proposed a thematic-based approach to sectoral statistics development, aiming to optimize budgeting.

With this meeting, it is expected that inter-agency coordination will be further strengthened, allowing for more effective sectoral statistics management in Ambon Municipality, ultimately supporting data-driven policymaking that is accurate and reliable. (TT)
