During today’s Youth Pledge Day ceremony, Statistics of Ambon Municipality presented the speech from the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. With gratitude, the people of Indonesia honor the historic Youth Pledge of 1928, when young Indonesians united to strive for independence and a shared national vision.
In his address, the Minister emphasized the importance of reviving the noble values of the Youth Pledge, which reinforce the nation’s character amidst rapid changes. This year’s theme, “Progress Together for a Greater Indonesia,” calls upon Indonesians to advance youth development in pursuit of Indonesia’s Golden Era by 2045.
The 2024 Youth Development Index (YDI) data indicates progress across sectors, especially in education (70 percent) and health (65 percent). However, youth participation in leadership and employment opportunities still requires improvement to strengthen the nation's global competitiveness.
The Minister also encourages local governments, communities, industries, and the media to collaborate in creating a supportive ecosystem that fosters the growth and development of Indonesian youth, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Through this ceremony, Statistics of Ambon Municipality, alongside other stakeholders, reaffirms its commitment to support the role of youth in building a prosperous and globally competitive Indonesia.
