National Statistics Day (HSN) 2024 was commemorated with great enthusiasm in a ceremony held at all offices of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) across Indonesia. This event also marked the anniversary of the issuance of Law Number 7 of 1960 on Statistics, which is considered a milestone in the development of statistics in Indonesia.
Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar W., in her address delivered by Senior Functional Statistician of BPS Ambon City, Barbalina W.C. Masela, during this morning’s ceremony, highlighted the importance of the contribution of statistics to national development, especially in facing the data revolution and the increasingly dynamic data ecosystem. She also emphasized that BPS has transformed into an institution that continues to be trusted by the public in providing high-quality data.
"The statistics produced by BPS to date have always been a reference for all parties and have influenced national strategic decisions. This is a form of public trust that we must continue to maintain and enhance," said Amalia.
In addition, Amalia also urged all BPS personnel to embody the theme of HSN 2024, "Quality Statistics for a Golden Indonesia," in every task they undertake. "BPS plays a strategic role in providing data that supports the achievement of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. Therefore, we must continue to innovate and strengthen collaboration with various stakeholders," she added.
The ceremony also became an occasion to honor the exemplary Statistical Employee (Insan Statistik Teladan, IST) who was selected through a rigorous process. This award aims to recognize BPS employees who excel, are dedicated, and demonstrate exemplary behavior. Amalia hopes that the achievements of IST will motivate other employees to keep innovating and collaborating in their duties.
The celebration of HSN 2024 at BPS was lively with various activities held at both the central and regional levels. "These activities not only enhance skills but also strengthen the camaraderie among employees," Amalia concluded.
In her closing remarks, Amalia expressed her appreciation to all employees who actively participated in this year's HSN celebration. "The strong sense of family at BPS is one of our greatest strengths. Let us maintain this spirit for the progress of BPS and Indonesia," she concluded.
