During the 2024 Strategic Data Socialization and Sectoral Statistics Guidance event held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in Ambon, the Acting Mayor of Ambon was unable to attend in person. However, the Acting Mayor's remarks were delivered by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Ambon, who opened the event with enthusiasm.
In his remarks, delivered by the Regional Secretary, the Acting Mayor of Ambon began by expressing gratitude to God Almighty for the health that has allowed this important event to take place. Although unable to attend directly, the Acting Mayor conveyed his highest appreciation to the Ambon City BPS and all Regional Government Organizations (OPDs) for their hard work in providing quality data that is crucial for the city’s development.
The Acting Mayor emphasized that accurate, complete, relevant, and up-to-date data is essential for targeted development planning. This data is not only necessary for planning but also for monitoring and evaluating the performance of development projects and for research purposes. Therefore, the role of the Ambon City BPS and all OPDs in generating quality data is vital for the advancement of the city’s development.
The Acting Mayor also noted that the vision of Indonesia Golden (Indonesia Emas) in the 2025-2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) requires high-quality statistics to measure and evaluate national and regional development progress. One of the policies within the major digital transformation agenda is the implementation of world-class statistics, which requires close collaboration between the BPS and OPDs/Agencies.
The Regional Secretary of Ambon further emphasized the importance of the One Data Forum of Ambon City as a platform for collaboration in providing reliable statistics. He encouraged all OPDs and relevant institutions to take responsibility for producing accurate data that reflects the actual conditions on the ground. The data produced must be accountable and free from misinterpretations or analyses that could harm development.
The event concluded with a prayer for success and divine blessings on this joint effort, hoping that it would continue to support more focused and sustainable development in Ambon City. With a spirit of togetherness, the Regional Secretary officially opened the event, hoping that all parties would make the most of this opportunity to collaborate for a better and more advanced Ambon City.
