Maluku Province BPS Holds 2023 Agricultural Census Regional Coordination Meeting

October 17, 2024 | Other Activities

Ambon, 16 October 2024 – The Maluku Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) held a Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) for the 2023 Agricultural Census which took place at The Natsepa Resort and Conference Center. This event was attended by a number of important figures, including Acting. Governor of Maluku, Ir. Sadali Ie, M.Si, IPU, who gave directions at the opening of the meeting.

This meeting also presented several resource persons, such as the Secretary of the Maluku Province Fisheries Service, Mr. Muhamad Safar Latuconsina, A.Pi, M.Si, and Professor at the Faculty of Fisheries, Pattimura University, Prof. Dr. J.M.S. Tetelepta, M.Sc., M.Phil. The two figures provided material and led in-depth discussions regarding the importance of evaluating data from the 2023 Agricultural Census and the 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey (SEP).

In this meeting, participants agreed that the 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey was an important step to collect comprehensive data on agricultural business units in Indonesia. The results of this survey will be the basis for the government in formulating targeted policies to improve the welfare of farmers in the future. Therefore, BPS Maluku Province emphasizes the importance of maintaining data quality by carrying out intensive evaluation at each stage of the survey.

A number of technical challenges were also discussed, including internet network quality problems that prevented completion of the survey on schedule, as well as several inconsistencies found in the survey process. BPS Maluku Province asks each district/city to correct anomalies and complete data tabulation before October 25 2024.

Apart from that, this meeting also highlighted the importance of increasing monitoring of other statistical activities, such as VHTS and Transportation Statistics, as well as the Quarter III E-commerce and STKU surveys which have tight deadlines.

From the administrative side, BPS reminds us of the importance of completing administrative evidence in a timely and transparent manner. All work units are asked to immediately complete payments to partners and complete the documents required to comply with the BPK Permindok in the second semester of 2024.

This meeting activity also included giving awards to Regency/City BPS work units that were successfully proposed to become WBK work units, as well as giving awards to Regency/City BPS Exemplary Statistical Persons.

Chairman of the Rakorda Committee, Ir. Charles Gigir Anidlah, M.Si, closed the meeting with an invitation to strengthen cross-sector coordination in order to maintain data quality and meet agreed targets.

With commitment from all parties involved, it is hoped that the 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey can be carried out well and provide accurate results for the progress of the agricultural sector in Maluku and Indonesia in general.
