Ambon – On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) officially launched the Village Statistical Love Program (Desa Cantik) in Passo Village, Ambon City. The event was attended by the Head of BPS Ambon City, the Acting Head of Passo Village, the Head of the DP3MD Office, the Head of the Communication and Information and Coding Office of Ambon City, the Head of the Bappeda Litbang Office of Ambon City, as well as functional officials from the Maluku Provincial BPS and Ambon City BPS. Additionally, the event was graced by officials from Passo Village Government, Desa Cantik Mentor Frangki Jusup Walun, and the Desa Cantik 2024 team.
Yusuf Tatar Mangaraksa, representing the Head of BPS Maluku Province, explained that the revision of Law No. 6 of 2014 to Law No. 3 of 2024 has increased the village budget. This necessitates the enhancement of village government capacity to manage development and governance more effectively. As a national statistical development agency, BPS is committed to supporting the strengthening of statistics at the village level through continuous capacity building.
The Desa Cantik program, which began in 2021, aims to assist villages and sub-districts in improving their statistical capabilities. "Through statistical mentoring, it is hoped that village development can be more targeted," said Yusuf Tatar Mangaraksa. Improving data management quality, village statistical capabilities, and data-driven decision-making are the main focuses of this program.
In 2024, BPS targets continuous statistical mentoring in 502 villages across Indonesia. Passo Village, Ambon City, was chosen as a model village representing the Ambon City area. It is hoped that Passo Village can serve as an example for other villages in Ambon City. Since its inception, the Desa Cantik program has mentored over 2,000 villages across Indonesia.
The theme of the Desa Cantik Program 2024 remains closely related to One Data Village Indonesia (SDDI), where BPS plays the role of Data Mentor. In its implementation, SDDI prioritizes data standards, metadata, data interoperability, and reference codes as key principles of One Data Indonesia (SDI).
As part of SDDI, BPS hopes this program will be sustainable and help strengthen a reliable national statistical system. Passo Village is expected to be the first step towards achieving high-quality village statistics, which will support more effective and sustainable development.
Yusuf Tatar Mangaraksa concluded his remarks by thanking the Acting Head of Passo Village and all the village officials who have supported the implementation of this program. "May this synergy continue to foster a better Passo Village and contribute to the progress of Ambon City," he said.
The Village Statistical Love Program in Passo Village is officially launched, with hopes that this program will help villages across Indonesia maximize their development potential through quality statistics.
